Former DROWNING POOL Frontman Launches A.M. CONSPIRACY
June 27, 2005The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that former DROWNING POOL frontman Jason "Gong" Jones has teamed up with ex-STILL NAIVE guitarist Rob Dehaven and CANVAS members Clint Campbell (guitars and voice),Dean Andrews (drums) and Kenny Harrleson (bass) in the newly christened Orlando, Florida rock band A.M. CONSPIRACY.
The singer calls Andrews "insane" on the drums. "He smokes every drummer I've ever played with. He's a little animal."
Jones, who is settling in Orlando after news of his split with DROWNING POOL, has 666's tattooed on his neck and one of his hands. But that body art is going to be history this week, covered over by something that sends a different message.
"I wanted to make a lifestyle change myself," Jones told the Orlando Sentinel. "I didn't want to be into the whole rock-star type of thing. I'm trying to get rid of the negativity in my life and move on."
Jones' reformation started after his introduction to Orlando promoter and independent label executive Jeff Hanson, who is open about his faith and its influence on his business.
"I've gotten to know him since he was here, and I could just tell that he wasn't happy. He was playing a role," Hanson says. "I just want to see him grow as a person, and I've got my hands full right now managing what I'm trying to manage."
Hanson told Jones that he would be better off working in Orlando and "establishing a more stable life." Right now, the singer's day job is doing custom tattoo art in Orlando. It's a return to a line of work he did for almost a decade before singing in rock bands paid the bills.
A.M. CONSPIRACY are recording tracks at King Snake Studios in Sanford. There's talk of a possible opening slot for PAPA ROACH's Sept. 3 concert at Hard Rock Live.
